PSA conducts periodical short term training to school teachers working in rural areas involving resource persons from within and outside the country. The objective of this effort is to professionalizing the teachers in key areas related to child development. These teachers have been trained in the following aspects:
- Child rights
- Child protection from physical, emotional, social and sexual abuses
- Protection from discrimination, neglect, violence
- Child centered teaching/learning methods
- Activity based learning and learning by doing
- Gender equity
- Positive discipline approaches
- Roles of teachers (observer, organizer, instructor, Mother/friend, counsellor)
- Delegating responsibility to children for their learning behavior
- Care for children with special needs
- Promoting human values
- Contact with parents
